Take a Bough, LLC

In 1998, Kathy Clingan founded Take a Bough LLC. While the business originally focused on floral arrangements and gifts, Kathy soon became inspired to transition Take a Bough to sell clothing and accessories after her business partner moved out of the area. Having always had an interest in apparel, Kathy sought to create a company which would sell clothing that was affordable, yet unique; items at the corner of timeless and fun.

Philanthropy is at the root of Take a Bough’s business. Kathy, herself an avid volunteer, first began operating Take a Bough by selling her items at fundraising events for nonprofit organizations in the Summit, NJ area. Always while working at these events, Kathy donated a percentage of Take a Bough’s earnings to the organization at hand. To this day, Take a Bough can still be found popping up at local philanthropy events.

Today, Take a Bough sells women’s blouses, shirts, sweaters, jackets, dresses, outerwear, and accessories. Each item is hand selected with the idea that women can pair these items with the staple pieces they already have in their closets: white slacks, black pants, and jeans. Kathy sees purchasing from Take a Bough as “a simple way to augment what every woman already owns.”
